NEW MUSIC ALERT!

Updated: Sep 23, 2021

Here is your next dose of standout tunes I have received recently and added to my playlists.

Leo Sawikin - Row Me Away

The latest release by New York's Leo Sawikin is a really interesting listen from start to finish. The song starts of with a moody brooding electronic opening verse, with intriguing production all over. Then the bass picks up and drives the listener up towards the much more open and flowing chorus. The choruses really are uplifting with the escalating vocals and sublime instrumentation with slide guitars giving it an outer space kind of feel. Just when you feel the song has settled it takes you down a different avenue towards the end of the song with a key change that takes to you another place, before a slide guitar heavy outro that wraps up this dense and incredibly varied listen.

Moon Walker - Disturbed Suburbia

Moon Walker have provided another unique blend of sounds and genres here on their latest single. Funky basslines and all over this song, along with David Bowie style guitar licks. This is all accompanied by Robert Plant-esque vocals. Moon Walker though manage to combine all of these historical sounds in a really fresh and contemporary way, that acts as the perfect vehicle to get across their bold lyrics. The track is concluded with a killer solo that seems like a fitting end to a really cool track.

Letting Up Despite Great Faults - Gemini

This track is soaked in electronic soundscapes that give it a distinctively M83 vibe with it's glistening sounds and washed out vocals that give it a brooding and melancholic feel. The track is very dense with apparent layers of textures and melodies that contribute to a really intense experience when listening. You can here that the drums are very low in the mix but provide more of a driving marching band effect adding to the texture. Then on top of that you have layers of synths and guitars that are all intertwined beautifully.

Presley Duyck - Happy 22!

Dallas based artist Presley Duyck is channeling her inner Stevie Nicks on this latest song, by fusing instrumentation reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac, along with some brilliant harmonies. However, Presley is able to make this sound fresh on modern with some great guitar sounds at play bringing the song right into 2021. The melodies here though really are the star of the show with some beautifully constructed melodies in the chorus in particular that will have this song stuck in your head all day!

Joel Borton - Polaroids

The latest track from Cincinnati's Joel Borton starts off with a sonic soundscape of synths and bells, that reminds you of the cinematic work of Hans Zimmer. This provides the perfect canvas for the rest of this track emerge from. The verses then drive with much more of an Indie Pop vibe with it's steady rocking groove and rolling bass pushing the song along in a percussive manor. This merging of synths and more classic rock sounds is reminiscent of some of Brandon Flowers solo work. The track itself manages to grow and grow on your throughout as it's melodies begin to work their way through your head over, until a climatic crescendo finishes it off perfectly. A really engaging and magical listen from start to finish.

Kevin Walkman - it's alright :)

Kevin brings a really quirky but infectious and innovative alt pop sound on this latest single. There are heavily chorused low-fi guitar parts throughout that sound Mac DeMarco like. However this sound has much more punch and grit about it, with it's incredibly hooky vocal lines and upbeat tempo. Interesting sounds and production litter this song, adding that extra appeal to what could be a very straight up catchy pop song, is turned into an incredibly engaging listen, that demands your attention all the way through. The result being a pop anthem for teens around the world to connect with and sing along to every word... You can imagine the crowd going crazy for this one at future gigs!
