HOT NEW TRACKS!

Updated: Aug 13, 2021

Here is your next dose of standout tunes I have received recently and added to my playlists.

Moon Walker - Lights Burn Out

The latest single from Moon Walker sounds like an intergalactic explosion of spacey melodies, set to a backdrop of some of the legends of rock music. You get a strong nostalgic feeling from the piano chord progression and the melotron-esque lead melody line, straight away as soon as the song starts. From there the passionate delivery of lead singer Harry Springer takes over and sets you through what feels like a journey through David Bowie's 'A Space Oddity' reimagined. There is also a medieval fairground feel toward the end of the track which gives of a 'Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite' feel to really take the song on a different tangent. And that's precisely what this track is all about - keeping the listener guessing and infectiously interested, the whole way through.

Joe Skylark - Everything is Happening

The debut single by Joe Skylark is a blend of electronic dance music, mixed with classic singer-songwriter elements, producing more of an emotional pull that you wouldn't normally associate with an electronic pop track like this. However, the song is not in any way lacking in anything on the electronic side, with incredibly catchy melodies and well balanced instrumentation providing the perfect backdrop for Joe's melancholic lyrics. A really strong debut track that shows promise for Joe's future releases.

HOL - bones

On latest track 'bones' HOL manages to bring ferocious energy and powerful vocals to this punk tinged alternative sound. This is accompanied by incredibly strong melodies and harmonies that turn the track into a real earworm. The chorus in particular really does get stuck in your head, with it's catchy, relatable lyrics that are backed up beautifully by the backing vocals. You get a bit of a coming of age feel with this song too, that makes it sound like it could fit nicely into the 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' soundtrack. I can't wait to see what this artist has to throw at us next.

Broke Casino - Tell Me (I Want You)

Tell Me (I Want You) kicks off with a steady, groovey beat and bassline that reminds you of Tame Impala's 'The Less I Know The Better'. It isn't too long until the track explodes into life with a huge chorus that has you reaching for those high notes to sing along. Production here is really strong too with a dense sound that doesn't sound too complicated. The song has an infectious almost disco like appeal to it that makes you want to dance the night away. By the time the track is over it leaves you wanting more, and feeling the urge to hit that repeat button!

The Violet Nines - Who Else

The Violet Nines are really bringing the funk and groove with them on this latest track. The group describe their sound as Groove Pop and that seems the perfect with for this jazzy infusion of genres, led by pop sensibilities in this contemporary twist to Motown. The track meanders through luscious melodies and instrumentation throughout, leaving you with an uplifting taste on your tongue, with all these interesting musical flavours that 'Who Else' has to offer.

THELIXX - Magic

THELIXX are an Indie Pop band that don't just create music that is middle of the road, but they really manage to infuses the extremes of both Indie and Pop to create a really unique sound. The bass-lines sound very pop and contemporary as well as a load of drum samples. However blended in you have some great real drum playing, along with guitars that give this song a distinct Indie feel too. On top of that the chorus is incredibly catchy and one that really gets stuck in your head straight off the first listen.
